By Angela Riley Project Manager & Team Leader Scotian Shores Shoreline Clean Up & Debris Removal
This past weekend (March 22), a dedicated team from Scotian Shores—comprising of over 20 local volunteers and staff—braved the elements to clean up Gulliver’s Cove. The crew successfully removed over 1,000 lbs of marine debris from the shoreline, including over 500 pounds of rope, 200 pieces of plastic strapping from boxes of bait, 1768 lobster bands (that will take 10-15 years to break down and are not fully biodegradable) and 4 aquaculture pipes. The team finished the massive effort just as the snowflakes began to fall. A huge thank you to the community members who joined and help keep our coastlines clean!
