Join the Mission: Help Us Collect Lobster Bands!

A huge thank you to everyone who has already hit the beaches this year—your efforts have been incredible! Between January and February alone, our community of #OceanWarriors has already pulled over 75,000 lobster bands and thousands of pounds of debris from our shorelines. These bands don’t just “go away”; they can last for over a decade, posing a major threat to birds, whales and even sea turtles.

If you’re out for a stroll and spot these elastics in the sand or seaweed, please pick them up! To help us track the data and target the worst-hit areas, you can report your finds by:

  • Emailing us at scotianshores@gmail.com with the location and a rough count/photo.
  • Tagging us on Facebook or Instagram (@ScotianShores) so we can celebrate your haul!
  • Joining our #CleanUpAlert email list to find out when we’re heading out to the shorelines together!

Every band collected is one less hazard for our local wildlife. Together, we can make a massive difference for Nova Scotia’s coast!
